Driving Letters Story
Terri Ashchi, M.Ed has taught primary grades for over a decade. She has seen how students struggle to produce legible handwriting. She uses stories and games to engage students and make handwriting fun. After years of sharing her techniques and stories with her fellow teachers and parents, she decided to expand her influence and she published her first book, Little Ricky and the Driving Letters.
Little Ricky is a typical first grader student who struggles with handwriting. He meets his friends, The Driving Letters, who share their tips and tricks on making handwriting fun. If you are a teacher or parent that is trying to help a child learn to write neatly, this book is for you. In addition to the book which shares a story about explicit handwriting in a fun and comprehensible way for children, there is a toolbox available for purchase with resources that make learning handwriting fun.
I have had the pleasure of working with Terri Ashchi in education for many years and I was not surprised when she told me she had written a book and developed a program to help kids with handwriting. Her dedication to supporting students is evident in everything she does. She goes above and beyond to ensure that each student receives the individualized attention and intervention they need to succeed. One area where she truly shines is in her expertise in handwriting. She believes in the importance of proper handwriting skills and she wanted to create a targeted support system as well as engaging strategies to help students improve. As a result of reading her book “Little Ricky and the Driving Letters” and using the posters and activities with my students, I have seen a significant improvement in my students’ handwriting. I am grateful to have the program as a teacher resource and I highly recommend it to any educator looking for support in helping their students reach their full potential.
